Sam's 2 Months Old!

It's hard to believe, but Sam is two months old! Today we took him to the doctor for his two month check-up and immunizations. He's a growing boy--up to 10 lbs 14 oz, and 22 inches long.

Mike and I take a "monthly" photo of Sam, and you can really see how much he's grown. The stickers are the same size and it's even the same onesie:

Check out some other highlights from the past month:

The Play Mat

One of Sam's favorite new toys is a play mat from Grandma and Papock. Every morning after Sam eats breakfast he's wide awake and he plays on the mat for a bit. Sam loves it, and it's one of the best parts of my day (though it would be nice if it wasn't 5AM!).

Thanks to Grandma Carol and Grandpa Jim for the video camera! We've been able to capture some really great moments with Sam--like this one of him playing on the mat:

(Also, thanks to our friends Paul and Deb for the cute outfit Sam's wearing in the video!)

Sam's First Christmas

Christmas was a busy day at our house! We took some family photos, opened lots of gifts, made a great Christmas dinner, took naps, and chatted with family. Check out some Christmas highlights:

Sleepy Baby

Sam likes to be carried around. A lot. Sam and I spend a lot of time walking around the house, which can be really tiring--for Sam (apparently)! He often falls asleep in our arms.

(Sam's outfit was a gift from a friend--thanks Patty!)

Quack! Quack!

These might be the cutest booties ever!
Many thanks to our friend Jessica who is an awesome knitter :)

The Swing

Ok. I'll admit it. I was skeptical. At the beginning Sam HATED the swing. Every time we put him in there he'd cry after a minute or two. He just wasn't happy. Until we moved the swing downstairs in front of the big sliding glass door out to our deck. He can look out the window and will even fall asleep. Check it out:

(I know. It's a video of a baby sleeping. That's about as exciting as it gets!)

6-week checkup

Every outing is a big outing for a baby. Today we visited the doctor for a 6-week checkup--for Mom, not Sam! Sam was a trooper though. He dressed warm and came along for the ride and he did great in the waiting room with Dad.

(Oh, and the checkup went well--Mom is healthy too!)

So...Sleepy...

Sometimes tummy time wears him out. I can pick him up and put him on his back in the crib and he's out like a light. If only this worked every time!

Is it just us...

...or has Sam gotten a lot bigger in two weeks?

Daddy's Home!

Paternity leave is over and the long holiday weekend has passed, so Mike is now back at work. One of the highlights of Sam's day (and Mike's!) is spending a little father-son time together in the evening.

Sam's First Thanksgiving

Mike and I usually travel during the holidays and spend Thanksgiving with our extended families. This year, with Sam less than 4 weeks old, we decided to do Thanksgiving at home. It took a little planning, a detailed grocery list, and a lot of teamwork, but we did it! Mike and I were in and out of the kitchen and nursery all day. We made an awesome dinner AND have lots of leftovers--perfect for the tired parents to get in a quick dinner together.

Sam's diet is a little less exciting--but regardless, nothing ends a meal quite like a good burp...

Bath Time

Now that Sam's belly button has completely healed, he's graduated from the sink bath to the tub bath. I'm not sure if Sam considers this an upgrade..he wasn't too happy about the bath! Sam is not particularly modest--the strategically positioned cloth was more for protecting Mom and Dad from any unexpected showers.

Clean, dry, and warm all was forgiven...

Sam: the first three weeks

The past three weeks have been very busy for Sam! We came home from the hospital on November 1st, and since then he's been eating, sleeping, pooping, and...well..not much else!

Sam's spent time visiting with his grandparents, had his first baths at home, and met his two kitties.

Sam had a "well baby" checkup at two weeks of age, and is very healthy. He's a great eater--already up to 7 lbs 9 oz! Mom and Dad are very tired, but happy that Sam is doing so great!

Check out photos of Sam's first three weeks:

He's Here!

Samuel Michael Nowak was born on Saturday, October 30th, 2010 at 9:07AM.

After 9 months of watching, waiting, planning, painting, cleaning, and organizing, we were ready for the big day. On my last scheduled day of work, one week before my due date, I started having contractions during the drive home. We started timing them when I got home, and Mike and I were at the hospital about 6 hours later. Sam was born the following morning--a happy, healthy 6lbs 6oz, 19.5" long.

Mike and I will try to keep this site updated with new photos and info about Sam--stay tuned!
